Self adjusting thermostat?

You don't need a new thermostat (or to have yours rebuilt for $400.00).

If your By-Pass Flame is working, you probably just need to calibrate the thing. If it sat idle for that long, and, given the way it's acting, that's more than likely your problem.

I have just finished completely re-typsetting, updating, and editing the C-series Service Manual, and it has detailed instructions on how to calibrate and test your Thermostat.

I've recently checked my oven temp. with two different thermometers. On the first try the the temp. was 200 degrees too hot. I called TOAC and was told the themostat was probably bad. I did further tests and found that it was going to bypass after sometime but the temp was consistantly high. After these tests, the temp. dropped to 150 degrees too hot and now after more use is 100 degrees over the temp. set on the dial. What is going on here? Before I purchased the stove a year ago I was told by the owner that it had sat idle for 34 years.

Thanks for the quick reply. Should I wait to see if the discrepancy between the dial and oven thermometer lessen or try to recalibrate the thermostat now?

I would try to calibrate the thermostat now and see what happens.

Do you have the instructions as to hwo to do so?

I assume I would pull the dial, loosen the two screws that are in the slotted openings and turn the small metal plate until it matched the temp. reading of the oven thermometer. ?.
